Beyond the Neutral is about learning to see beauty beyond first impressions. I have always painted in full color, so when a friend told me she was decorating her home entirely in black and beige, my first reaction was that it sounded quiet, even sad. Her choice became a challenge: could neutrality feel warm, joyful, and alive? Stepping outside my comfort zone, I built the painting from a restrained foundation, allowing ochres, fiery reds, and soft blues to emerge through layers of rich texture. What began as an experiment with a palette I had dismissed became a reminder to look again, stay curious, and discover the unexpected beauty beneath the surface.
