I’m Bahareh Mazaheri, the artist behind Beemaz.studio, based in the Netherlands. With a background in architecture, my work is rooted in a deep understanding of form, material, and composition, shaped through years of looking at space, texture, and structure. While my path into abstract painting is self-directed, it is grounded in this architectural foundation and an early practice of making and exploring materials by hand.

After years in Amsterdam, I was drawn to a quieter life closer to nature. It was here that I began painting and created my studio at home, where a personal exploration gradually became my language, a way to express what cannot be contained in words.

My work explores contrast and balance. Through layered textures and harmonized tones, compositions that may initially feel intense settle into a quiet sense of calm, holding a constant dialogue between structure and spontaneity, control and release.

I am drawn to imperfection, not as a flaw, but as a trace of presence. Fine cracks, subtle ruptures, and irregular surfaces are embraced rather than concealed, each holding the memory of the process and giving the work its depth and individuality.

For me, painting is a language, each piece reflecting an internal state translated into texture, color, and form.

Artistic Style

My work exists in the space where structure meets spontaneity. At its core are dimensional sculpted circular forms, rising gently from the surface and creating a quiet rhythm of light and shadow. These elements act as anchors within the composition, drawing the eye into layers of depth that unfold gradually.

I work with richly textured surfaces that evoke a sense of terrain, built through layers that feel both grounded and fluid. Movement flows through these textures, guiding the composition beyond the flatness of the canvas into something more spatial and immersive.

Each piece is not intended as a static image, but as a presence, something that shifts subtly depending on light, distance, and attention.

Inspiration & Concept

My work is shaped by a fascination with both the natural world and the cosmos. I’m drawn to the quiet repetition of forms, how circular patterns appear across vastly different scales, from microscopic structures to distant galaxies, creating a sense of connection between the intimate and the infinite.

Within this, I am always searching for harmony. Even in compositions that carry weight, texture, and movement, there is an underlying intention to create balance, a stillness that emerges from complexity.

Irregularities play an essential role in this process. A slight disruption, an uneven surface, or a fine crack becomes a point of tension and release. These moments allow the work to breathe, to feel alive, reflecting the natural state of things, never perfect, never still, always in quiet transformation.

Process

Each piece begins with building the surface. I layer paper and gypsum to create a textured foundation with depth and history. I work with carefully selected materials, including gypsum, hand-sculpted clay, and artist-grade acrylics, allowing each surface to develop both structure and longevity. The circular forms are shaped by hand and integrated as anchors within the composition.

Color is applied through a mix of direct interaction and precise detail. While I often build the foundation using sponges and my hands, I guide the final layers with fine brushwork, letting the pigments respond to the heavy surface to create organic transitions and reinforce the physicality of the work.

The piece is complete when the elements reach a quiet balance, when texture, form, and color settle into a natural coherence.
